Tertulia (DBA Tertulia for Authors) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share your personal information when you use the Tertulia for Authors platform (https://authors.tertulia.com), our mobile applications, website builder ecommerce tools and email services (collectively, the "Service"). It does not apply to the content or data collection practices of individual websites created by our users. Each author is responsible for posting and maintaining a privacy policy on their own site, and for ensuring compliance with relevant laws when collecting visitor data.


1. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of personal information:

A. Information You Provide to Us

  • Name, email address, and other contact details when you sign up for an account
  • Payment information (credit card or billing address) via our payment processor
  • Content you upload to your website (e.g., bio, book links, blog posts)
  • Customer support communications

B. Information Processed on Your Behalf

When you use features such as ecommerce or email tools, we may process personal data on your behalf and at your direction including:

  • Customer names, email addresses and order details
  • Uploaded mailing lists and subscriber data
  • Email campaign content and delivery metadata

In these cases you act as the data controller and Tertulia acts as a service provider/processor.

C. Automatically Collected Information

  • IP address, browser type, and usage data collected via cookies or analytics tools

D. Third-Party or Publicly Available Information

  • Publicly available information related to your authorship (e.g., book listings or reviews) to help generate your website

2. How We Use Your Information

We may use your information to:

  • Provide and maintain your website and Tertulia for Authors account
  • Enable ecommerce transactions and email functionality
  • Process payments and manage billing
  • Communicate with you about your account, updates and marketing offers, and support
  • Improve and personalize our services

3. Sharing of Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share data only in the following limited ways:

  • With service providers (e.g., payment processors, hosting providers, fulfillment services and additional service providers)
  • As required by law (e.g., court orders, regulatory requests)
  • In case of a business transfer of Tertulia (e.g., merger or acquisition)

Service providers receive only the information necessary to perform their functions and are subject to contractual confidentiality obligations.


4. Payments and Stripe

All ecommerce payments are processed through Stripe. Tertulia does not store credit card information. Users may access transaction reporting and accounting through the Stripe dashboard. Stripe's privacy practices are governed by its own policy linked here.


5. Data Retention

We retain personal data as necessary to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Data may be processed in the United States and other jurisdictions. Appropriate safeguards are implemented where required by law.


6. Cookies and Analytics

We may use cookies and analytics tools (like Google Analytics or Microsoft Clarity) to understand user behavior and improve the service. You may control cookie preferences through your browser settings.


7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal information. Requests can be made at authors@tertulia.com.
